Archies all day was a breath of fresh air from our usual brunch places.
First and foremost, they served alcohol during brunch which meant we could indulge in an early drink – just because.
Their menu was unconventional – and unexpectedly good at that. With new and exciting dishes available, we most definitely didn’t hold back and took the opportunity to change up our usual brunch repertoire. After spending long and hard contemplating important
brunch life decisions, we ended up going with the dirty eggs (Huevos Sucios) and grilled french toast.
The dirty eggs were interestingly good. Generally speaking, I hate black beans but this dish was so well balanced that it really couldn’t be eaten without all of its elements. Light yet flavoursome, this was a dish that brought flavour to the table without weighing you down.
The grilled french toast was truly something to behold. Swimming in a pool of sweet potato custard and topped generously with a smoked maple cream, this was a french toast on its own heavenly level. We also went with the optional additional of candied maple bacon because let’s face it – bacon is always a good idea.
The overall combo was an absolute delight and strayed far from the usual cinnamon style french toast. The sweet potato naturally added to the flavours of the french toast rather than relying heavily upon the sugar to give that sweet, euphoric rush. This was honestly a very well rounded dish. It’s sure to haunt me until I’m lured back for more.
Coffee was also really good (lol).
