This place was mental. I had read about it before coming in and didn’t want to spend too much time waiting in time so we came to Grand Central Market just before open so we wouldn’t have to line up and…boy were we wrong.
We got there about 15 minutes before opening and there was already a line waiting for the whole market to open. Thankfully we didn’t end up waiting very long once we got inside, but while waiting Ken went to grab us coffees and ask the staff about Eggslut to see if it was actually any good. They replied they had never actually been because the line is mental every single day until they sell out…every day.
To make the most of it we ordered as much as we could possibly eat:
Bacon, Egg and Cheese – hardwood smoked bacon, over medium egg, cheddar and chipotle ketchup in a warm brioche bun
Fairfax – soft scrambled eggs and chives, cheddar cheese, caramelised onions and sriracha mayo in a warm brioche bun
Slut (specialty) – a coddled egg on top of a smooth potato puree, poached in a glass jar and served with a demi baguette
There is really only one way to truly describe all of these – froth-worthy.
If you’re thinking ‘oh, it’s just eggs “ you’re wrong because these are the most mouth watering, craving-inducing eggs you will ever have.
There’s something that’s been perfected whether it be the not-to-sweet-but-super-fluffy brioche out the slight runnyness of the eggs, something is just so right about their balance I would gladly line up time and time again.
