Dreaming by Candlelight

Annie's Engagement
If you recall from my last outfit post, I was keeping my fingers crossed, hoping for a forgiving June.

Looks like I got what I wanted, because I’m engaged!

I honestly couldn’t be happier with how it turned out – I have the most thoughtfully designed ring and best of all, a guy I could only have wished for (sounds cheesy I know)

So let’s start from the beginning:

I was originally invited to go out for a fairly fancy-pants dinner at Vue De Monde with my dearest friends from Botanics of Melbourne.

We planned this get together ages ago, but the week that amassed was long and arduous so naturally, I was anything but in a festivious mood. I was just so tired and was just really looking forward to kicking my feet up and indulging in a glass of wine. Meanwhile in the other corner, was a nervous-filled Ken trying to make sure everything was going swimmingly, but there I was, being nothing short of difficult.

Despite my mood, we went on and arrived at the shop to pick up our dinner-guests. Initially, we were only meant to stop by and be off our way, but as we walked in to fetch our dinner dates, I was instead greeted by this stunning arbour.

Now anyone that knows me would be aware of the fact that I don’t pick up social cues very well. My initial thought was “Oh that’s nice! A very lucky lady is going to have this for their wedding tomorrow”, all while busily thinking “Where the hell are they?! We’re going to be late!”.

In that moment, Ken propped me under the beautiful lights and started his spiel, starting with “You’re my best friend….”. At which point, everything just turned into crying and white noise (haha).

It was happening, and I had no idea.

When he got down on his knee, the white noise stopped and I ecstatically gave my response. If I’m being honest, I’m still riding on that high to this day.

The night proceeded with a delicious dinner, lovingly cooked by our dearest friends at Botanics. Served by candlelight amongst a beautiful display of Australian natives and orchards, we indulged in a combination of excellent company, hearty food, vintage reds and giggles – I couldn’t have been happier.

Not even disappointed about Vue De Monde.

It’s been an adventure-filled three years for the both of us with certainly more to come (New York first of course!)

Now the question for you is, are you ready for the barrage of wedding posts?
Can’t wait to take you all on this journey with me.
